Capacity Building Programme: Creative Use of Waste Materials
Today, our capacity building programme was conducted at 12 o’clock in the afternoon with a focus on waste management. The programme aimed to create awareness about the creative reuse of waste materials and to develop our innovative and collaborative skills.
For the programme, we were divided into three groups, and each group was assigned a different type of waste material to create a dress. The creations were presented through a ramp walk.
The first group, Ragam, which is my group, worked with newspapers. We designed a bridal gown made entirely of newspaper. Our model, Anisree, willingly participated and presented the outfit confidently. She wore a newspaper gown along with paper-made accessories such as earrings, hair accessories, and a bouquet. She walked the ramp as a wedding bride, and the presentation was appreciated by everyone.
The second group, Dhwani, created a dress using leaves as their waste material. The participants and models for this group were Revathi and Anuraj. They presented the leaf-made outfit during the ramp walk and highlighted the beauty of eco-friendly fashion.
The third group, Rhythm, designed a dress using used plastic materials. Their presentation focused on spreading awareness about plastic waste and the importance of recycling. The dress was confidently showcased during the ramp walk by Ansaf and Aswathy.
The programme was inaugurated by our teacher, Parvathy Ma’am. All the teachers attended the programme and shared encouraging remarks and positive feedback. The programme successfully conveyed the importance of waste management, creativity, and teamwork.
Overall, today’s capacity building programme was an engaging and meaningful experience that showed how waste materials can be transformed into creative works.
